Artist Biography

Clinton Loveridge (1838-1915)

Born/lived: Troy, New York/Albany, Brooklyn, New York. Had his own studio. Brooklyn, NY, lived as boarder in home of John Bond for over 20 years, also fellow artist Samuel Carr in household, 461 12th St. He painted in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Known: Pastoral landscape, genre and animal painting. Painted numerous pastoral landscapes with cattle and sheep, somewhat influenced by the Hudson River School.

Exhibited: Exhibited paintings Brooklyn Art Assn., 1867 to 1884; National Academy of Design, 1867 to 1899. Albany’s Bicentennial Loan Exhibition (Catalog) 1886.
