Artist Biography
Edna Hibel, a painter and lithographer was born in Boston, MA and lived in Brookline, MA and Riviera Beach, FL. She studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School and with Carl Zerbe and Jacovleff. She was a member of AEA. She exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago; the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; Vose Galleries, Boston; The Institute of Modern Art, Boston; Smith Galleries, Boston; Shaw Galleries, Boston; American Watercolor Society; Oehlschlaeger Galleries, Sarasota, FL; Gallerie de Tours, San Francisco and Carmel, CA; Main St. Gallery, Rockport, MA. Hibel’s work is in many fine art collections including the Boston Museum of Fine Art and Harvard University. In the 1960’s her paintings of women and children on ceramics became very popular. She opened galleries in Palm Beach and NYC and is now featured in the Edna Hibel Museum of Art, in Jupiter, FL.
