Anthony Thieme (1888-1954)

Born/lived: born in Rotterdasm, Holland and lived in New York, Boston, but primarily Rockport, MA and wintered in St. Augustine, FL where he had studios.

Known: best known as a painter, designer and teacher who painted scenes of streets, villages, boats, fishermen, and harbors in and around Rockport and St. Augustine, FL. One of the artists responsible for making Rockport, MA a popular destination for painters.

Studied: Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, Holland, under George Hacker, Guiseppe Mancini, Garlobini and Guardaciona, also Italy and Germany.
